Modern human beings
do not generally
know pain
and when they get a bout of it
there’s pills
its a short chain
a reaction and the mind
is calmed
and the pain it goes away
but what we see in animals
that some eat
is dismay
ignorance a fore thought
and arrogance its friend
for pain is felt by you and I
and each, animal friend
exactly the same relevance
that pain hurts them as well
but often there’s no pill for them
just a long journey through hell
farm animals
wild animals
circus
torture, we
see branding and tail docking
and teeth clipping
regularly
testicles removed by hand
and all of this is done
without a pill
can you feel that chill?
we now don’t even stun
the cow
the pig
the sheep
the duck
the chicken
they all go
to meet their maker
and, when we say
we slit their throats
and they know
they feel the pain
the agony
the loss
their sentients, too
many of them
the majority in fact
more so than YOU
for if you are eating animals
or wearing some corporate aid
the alaughterhouse or death camp
with its victims on parade
laboratories are torturing
sentient’s every day
we blot it out but without a doubt
they feel the pain and way
outside our mean threshold
because its mental too
they give their milk
their eggs
their legs
their lives
oh! yes they do
and we exact such torture
on a sentient’s soul, and they
feel all the pain
take all the strain
every single day
