Hay Island Nova Scotia the annual seal hunt is off for the second year

Hay Island Nova Scotia
Cape Breton
Sealer’s said
there will not be a grey seal hunt
so we’re putting that to bed
few around show interest
local or global too
and the seals can live to see another day
because of you
out there there must be many
who have campaigned night and day
written signed petitions
and governments did pay
attention to this slaughtering
which was broadcast
far and wide
and Taiwan, the US
the EEC have clearly seen a slide
in orders and have banned
marine mammal products
which is right
Russia too has clearly
been moved and has seen the light

Stephen Harper on the other hand
appears to be
actively approaching China
hopeful they will see
a way to kick start sealing
murders
for next year
with ministers this insensitive
it seems to me its clear
we have to carry on the fight
not sit back on our laurels here
Canada apparently seems to make it clear
their wild life can be a resource
and such a short term view
ensures that I and others
will boycott this place too

perhaps the world is waking up
to those resources, we
highlight in our great campaigns
impressing all must be
vigilant for wild life
take that long term view
forget about the dollars
take a universal view
and with a thriving wild life
tourists will come back
they will bring the revenues
that Canada may now lack
