Okinawa’s legacy perhaps

Agent Orange
buried
on Okinawa
they
have discovered buried
in the ground
a stash
and so today

on former USAF land
the sickness that arose
the illnesses
that have come to life
well now this all
must pose

in hearts and minds
that Dow Chemicals
evil defoliant
might be the source
of terror
as it slowly leaked
into the earth
its force

such vile and awful
misery
of just what it could do
the Pentagon denies it
but it seems its true to me

but did they even know about it
maybe you don’t expect
someone to be that stupid
but someone could elect
to dump it all those years ago
get rid of it and go
forget about it
walk away
as if no one does know

the handlers apparently
are sick and some have died
when we create such evil
it is always deep inside
and will surface
it will surface
and denial
is no use
in reality
this stuff from hell
caused so much real abuse

and of course comes back
to haunt us all
for to have used such stuff at all
was the height of such depravity
for we broke a golden rule

we forgot about the innocent
we overlooked the land
we turned our love to hatred
and forgot to understand
that everyone is mortal
that everyone should be
respected for their magic
and part of humanity
