Whaling for research ( a crafty way around the all out world ban)

Since the World Moratorium
in 1986
the International Whaling Commission
passed its box of tricks
all the other countries
go along with a
whaling ban
except Iceland and Norway and
of course Japan

it seems they hooked into some
way of getting around the act
telling themselves it was for research
of course it wasn’t fact
reality is clear on this
but these three carried on
their murderous acts
independently and of course
its their big con

Sea Shepherd of course has taken up the
challenge and has tried
to fight them in the oceans
but of course has been denied
for all 3 do catch whales
and eat them
or sell to Japan
and so that pails
into insignificance
they get around the ban

and the killers of the sea
are seen as right alas
Japan has powerful friends
and help comes yea en masse
turning a blind eye to this or that
they’ve got away
with aggression on the high seas
and making whaling pay

Sea Shepherd on the other hand
took the fight abroad
with little ships
and courageous crews
they harried with accord
up against the mighty
whalers of Japan
they kept the pressure building
and did this man for man

Japan though got frustrated
despite its nations needs
most don’t want to eat whale meat
seeing great souls needs
are met out in the oceans
not harpooned and sliced through
turning oceans red alas on research Nissan Maru

who do they think they are kidding
the people of Japan
have turned away from whale meat
which was not part of the plan
to me its very simple
these 3 countries should see
the world believes its paramount
that whales be left to be

swimming the greatest oceans
for clearly them we need
they are the greatest creatures
left on earth and this does lead
all activists to say aloud
Iceland Norway you
and Japan must now adopt
the principles like we all do
Cretaceans need protecting
not slaughtered every year
the world Moratorium
has to stick and that must be clear

Sea Shepherd were the heroes
they took their fight and ran
the high seas and the ugliness
we’ve seen from old Japan
Paul Watson has been hounded
and a number of others too
and the countries involved
in all of this
have to take the view

That Whales are there for saving
besides they are riddled through
with PCB’s and Mercury
and other poisons too
unsafe to eat in quantity
or be fed to those who feel
they might be eating other fish
and whale meat they conceal.

And so I sign this petition
the world must realise
that these 3 countries
use of research is before our eyes
a loophole that we all regret
one that the world must fix
and impress upon the 3 of them
of the acts of 86
