Animal cruelty why ?

Animal cruelty it appears
is now out of control
the phenomena is evident
each day, another soul
what can mortals do to stem this
vile and evil flow
why do people do these things
does anybody know?
if there is an obvious point
to make, lets make it now

we must tell the world to try
we have to, yes somehow
such innocence a forethought
what terror must apply
a lack of understanding
we must, ask ourselves why
farm animals and others
domestic pets we see
such torture, and such evil
really how can that be

is it down to diet
to circumstance, or we
are we now fast sinking
in an ever toxic sea
is our consciousness, now ailing
their cries do we ignore
why do so many turn away
and neglect, our natural law

of course our place in this shared
world
should be alongside those
voiceless ones the other earthlings
with their share of woes
“all things bright and beautiful”
all creatures great and small”
they were the words we used to sing
in the big school hall

if that’s the case what’s happened
where have we gone wrong
did we not believe those words
when we sang the song
or do we think that animals
are put here so that we
can hurt them and abuse them
to the worse kind of degree

allow the present farmers to torture
them and hurt
allow the bloody abattoirs
to obviously now skirt
around the rules of slaughter
where agony and pain
are exacted on the innocent
just for financial gain

and we just say we do not know
and we just look away
and all this time its happening
its happening more each day
tail docking and teeth clipping
branding! oh my God
tearing off their testicles
what a savage sod!

crushing tiny male chicks
slaughtering the calves
torture and such mayhem
nothings done by halves
what is really happening
to civilization, we
are we watching it, go down the pan
and the majority

don’t worry as long as the meat is cheap
we do not question it
the agony,and the horror
and all the meat trade’s sh**
put out by the corporates
those heartless crafty ones
who advertise their prowess
to our daughters and our sons

Take a look on face book
on Twitter and abroad
they are eating cats and eating dogs
and the fur trade oh my go’rd
the trapping and the evil deeds
are everywhere about
vivisection and experimentation
really there’s no doubt

we’re sinking in a bloody hole
and few around now seem
to put the case for animals
and they fail to hear them scream
but scream they do
how much they try to run away
but we
are deaf and ****ing dumb these days
which is a tragedy
