Alternative technology Machynlleth

Back home I sit and ponder
On the last week spent away
In North Wales where every day it rained
Where existence in a way
Was metered out essentially
Where grounded I could be
Enduring and procuring
Unimagined mystery

A quarry in Snowdonia
With wild foliage about
And there we saw a real oasis
One look and there was no doubt

Randomly placed buildings
Their visibility
Profound in actuality
And technology

Wild brambles ambling outwards
Baby birch there too
Flowers and wild souls rambling
The fabric of the few
A raggedness a kind of motley mosaic
Of the field
But never a monotony on which
To ever build

A kind of cute play area
Ensconced in the trees
I could hear the joy of children’s voices
Above the hoary breeze
A kitchen lit and airy
With delightful nosegays high
And into a reception WISEly I asked why

The sight of pine was everywhere
The walls the floors so warm
A cafe and a restaurant
To get out of the storm
And sit a while enclosed in peaceful aura’s
Made us feel
Welcome it’s was welcoming
And invitingly real

The fine grained foliated metamorphic rock
Was everywhere
it’s softness
Did rapidly unlock
The prose in me the gentleness
The reason so to share
Purposeful and colourful
With quantities so clear
Incredibly beautiful the walling
The truthful did appear
.
Balancing the world that I could see
The artistic representations
Of giant knobs etc
Excited those dolls houses from my childhood
Actually

A lovely calming courtyard
With photo voltaic tiles
Providing a spectacular
Energy the piles
Of calming aspects in surround mode
All around us we
Could feel the warmth of a rainy day
And how nice it was too be

In the warm arms of the the CAT teams
Each truly kindly soul
With an air of peace and calmness
Whilst being in control
On a really heartfelt basis
And eminently so
It was laid back it was measured
And we Just joined with the flow

Our rooms were overlooking
an area beyond and up into the mountains
Where the slate people abscond
To pick their various berries
And Dance in the morning mists
With bells around their ankles
And with flowers around their wrists

Pine was again in evidence
As was simplicity
A beautiful picture window
Where I could sit and be
At one with all that foliage
That mountain and the sky
And the mists that drew a curtain
Hiding goblins that did fly

Each topsy Turvy skimble skamble
Winding path to where
The slate people do live their lives
Clearly so aware
Of what the mortals did here
The conservation and
The alternative technology
In hand and for the land

The exuberance of living
In a world of love and care
Where the blush of early morning
And the real mountain air
Washed into your waiting lungs
One great continuous stream
And the focus and the thinking
Was something from a dream

They were so accommodating
You felt cared for in a stroke
The sweeping panorama’s
When anybody spoke
Continuance in action
A permanence of thought
An unfailing reason to uphold
All you had been taught

An in house revolution
A mutability
A kaleidoscope ‘
Of colours
Through every infancy

A general realisation
Of ones destiny abroad
Of the impending judgement that we must all afford
The mainspring of the movement
To remain at Natures path
And sink our teeth in renewables
Forgoing all the wrath

Of the nuclear phenomena
And of course the fossil fuels
We had to take a pivotal role
Inspired within the rules
Acknowledging the obvious
And blaming none abroad
All being accountable
For what we could afford

The power was of endurance
The influence to stay
Walk ones talk
Fight ones battle
It’s a winning way
It must feel irresistible
The zero carbon day
Get off the grid
Each solar bid
The order come what may

Wind turbines, solar, wave power
Reed beds let them be
Plungers for power stations
Insect hotels and we
Can compost till we are crazy
Building with straw bales
Turf our roof
It’s possible
Walk on natures trails

MAchynlleth blazes
Their trail up in the air
Across the mountains
Through the quarries
Almost everywhere
Her water powered cliff railway
It’s all a dream come true
Go along to CAT I say
That’s all you have to do
