Hunting is good for the environment or so they say

To me this is an absurdity
An extravagant premise
A fatuous suggestion
An assertion drawing bliss
To the great hunting fraternity
To the gun shops and of course
All those hunting accessories
That profit margins force
Some to feel create the need
The arrogance of man
Whose basic immaturity
Establishes the plan

As for the local people
Who we are told gain profit by
The meat that they so utilise
Its a small percentage so why
Is the argument put forward
They are building up their case
For the psychopathic reasoning
Which we all have got to face

They are rich they have loads of money
But they have limited time
And thats the reason really
Why canned hunting jaunts do climb
Farmers could turn over their oranges
For Lions
And watch the bottom line increase
And enjoy all the signs

And that is what has happened
Its an insanity
A wave of total ignorance
Environmentally
Every kind of argument is forced
Into the ring
To justify the profits
That inevitably it does bring

The unnaturalness of wildness
Manipulation calls the shots
and wild animals suffer
With farmers making pots
Of money, they are rolling in it
And with that money power
Their constant expectations
Are growing by the hour

The Daily Maverick did a piece
With arguments all ways
Exposing all thats going on
If I can paraphrase
The arguments I need to
For its frightening for me
What apparently is happening
And where in fact we be

Africa is reeling
Its animals exposed
The Elephant the iconic Lion
The Rhinoceros now pose
Catastrophic losses in numbers
And we see the biggest tuskers taKen out
To a frightening degree

The concentration on those animals
Passed their breeding age
Is unbelievable arrogance
For me its off the page
Its a simpleton who imagines
That this is a great idea
But reality proves otherwise
And for me its very clear

The elders have the experience
Life has taught them much
Instinct they all have that
Clearly all in touch
But killing all the older ones
These social groupings stand
To suffer and of course they do
Right across the land

Its also lays a precedent
In people minds today
With growing numbers of human beings
Perhaps it is a way
Of dealing with the problem
Perhaps another day

Its all about desire
And being selfish
Creating arguments
Hoping that they
Perorate and expand the where’s and what for’s
And initially are there to save their day

There’s an awful lot of a cash in the equation
And its hard to put a finger on it, we
Saw with poor old Cecil what can happen
The vagaries of man will always be
Ready and decline in numbers happens
Its off the chart and look around today
The animals of Africa are being shot to pieces
With new markets developing that pay

Ivory to Asia And Rhino Horn as well
lion bones a new turn around creating
A new Hell
And honesty is far away in the tiger cake furore
So the add on’s to the trophy hunting scene
Is more and more

Trying to truthfully analyse the urge to slaughter I
As as animal lover cannot see why they have to die
To have some taxidermist re create a soul
And imagine that by displaying it I have got control
Surely all creation is sickened by the ask
Slaughtering live animals and then some, how to bask
In the glory of their passing the gore the blood and snot
And the chemical infusions that preserve it from the rot

Embalming a reflection a dead soul stuffed or hung
And seen as a work of beauty for me it is among
The most sadistic and the most evil
To take a life to show
Other arrogant so called friends
Who will marvel in the glow

Like everything around us money fucking talks
Look at the plight of farm animals
Such cruelty now baulks every conceivable avenue
Of decency abroad
Concentration camps of woe
Are truly no reward

And already lions are caged up
In shocking conditions they
Are wild remember supposedly kings and queens
And how they pay
For the joy of life
For being close to the rotten human tribe
Who will shoot them in cold blood
And the blood they will imbibe

Sustainable to who I ask
To the hunting man maybe
But to life and the environment
It is catastrophically happening
Such destruction the boundaries have been crossed
The true wild spirit broken
And that has been the cost

But can we put a price on that
Can we so we dare
The rich industrial prostitutes
They do not bloody well care
All they want is a trophy
Up there on their wall
Gathering dust as their memories fade
Which for me does appal

Death is truly final
And no man shall take away
The life of any creature
That is what I say
If you can not create an earthling
Then you must never kill
End its term its spark its germ
For if you do a chill

Must come to you for karma
Is an aid to balance we
Must do no harm to anyone
For any reason see
Ahead with eyes you were given
Those miracles of man
And come to terms with your arrogance
That must welcome a ban

We must ban them and must house them
In prisons close to where
They can hear the wildness of the night
And sink into despair
Poachers should be shot if caught
That sentence has to be
The big one for their psyche
A sure guarantee

Human beings are destroying
Everything on earth
Their greed their awesome ignorance
They lost what was shared worth
It all stems from their arrogance
Their disregard for life
Short term profit long term loss
And catastrophic strife
