Beltane welcomes the blossoms
The blossoms of the May
Hazel stout and stocky
Keeps everyone at bay
Hazels thorny countenance
It’s leaves that surely tonify
Rich in vitamins for
Replenishing those lost from Yule
Whilst Helping us restore
The sweet scent conjures
Up in me, a project for the child
Who wanders aimlessly
On the digital pathways
Ever wild
Whilst unseeing of the fabric
And The corridors of life
The sugar and the woody smoke
That internalises strife
The fire of the great goddess
Beltane just makes us sure
More animals now on parade
It’s part of natural law
The first green shoots
Shout louder
To the new lambs in the field
Hoist the May pole clasp
It’s ribbons
Feel, all the gladsome yield
Lots of flowery garlands
Dandelion and daisy chains
Let the bonfires smoulder
The smoke inducing gains
To rid the cattle of the ticks
For that was clearly when
The need became a potential
Recorded by the pen
Mid summer sends it symphony
To harvest time for there
Where The fruits of all our labours
Will be here for all to share
