Amalgam a day of reckoning

Today I saw a completely
different YOU my dear
amalgam tainted
injection painted
fear
a paleness and a countenance
subtle in the morning light
with a beauty and tenderness
like a swallow flying through the night
a quietness an impatient smile
as I kind of felt uncomfortable
the narrowness the little aisle
climbing through the frustration
showed
and my sadness for you overflowed

a softness like a wisp of air
you turned the music down
aware
the need to leave I knew had come
my heart though beat just like a drum
a wistful smile
and you were gone
a shadow grey was now upon
that image as I drove away
with pickled thoughts and mind at play

I came home lonely as before
that pallor I could not ignore
shades of sadness worked there way
and just became the time of day
a numbness you poor soul I felt
those NHS cards you were dealt
I couldn’t help you but wanted to
I felt that pain inside of you
