Ella felt so safe in Elmwood
her mother was knocked down and killed
on the Truman Road
she had lived in the confines
of this peaceful cemetery
not harming a soul
and it showed
silence was clearly
a quality she saw
as really a blessing
and so we are sure
she loved being there
in such tranquil surroundings
the stillness of morning
the calmness of night
people came into the cemetery
to see her
and clearly she felt safe
and gave off such light
that was, until Sunday
when someone some mindless
creep came along and shot her to bits
some hard hearted troll
clearly minus a soul
one of the world little shits
took aim pulled his trigger
and the deer was no more
I try to imagine that deer
for I’m sure
she would have been happy to see
this bold soul
who took out his gun
and then lost control
no doubt their eyes met
that’s when the deer
felt the whiff of his cowardice
and a moment of fear
she’d be joining her mother
knocked down on the road
who ever the shooter was he’d have a load
to carry
with her death
for she dared to feel
she had every right
to be there she was real
she was innocent she had such value
and she
died anyway bleeding out rapidly
whoever did this
who now sits at home
with blood on his hands
if he does roam
wherever he will be reminded
inside
of the ending of a life
that had simply relied
on Elmwood on the cemetery
and on the people who came
and how he’s snuffed her out
for just being so tame
