Circus in Shanghai the bear and monkey incident

When circus comes to town
in any country
its purpose is to thrill
and shock, and they
seem to, mind you
where they get their ideas from
clearly they are archaic
they just play

into fear and a sort of
imagination
but along the way
all suffer and so much
the animals are unpaid unloved
uncared for
and the rest of us
are really out of touch

and so they operate
under the radar
local laws mean nothing
to them, they
get on with whatever
breaching by laws
doing anything
then just move away

this sort of cloak and dagger
leads to some pretty awful judgement
the foolishness and senselessness
around
exploitation of the working animals
is obviously
the most horrid
and frustrating thing we’ve found

torture,and abuse
its really rampant
as circus sort of dies
it seems to be
that less support is out there
for what they offer and
animals suffer more
as we can see

its right across the
world
in every country
tortured trained unkindly
without voice
without rights
its always desperate the state takes
an advantage
alone so many do not have a choice

housed badly and fed badly
and the people who devise
their acts throw caution to the wind
is that such a surprise
or have no thought about
the consequences
so thick skinned
and without that understanding
nothings underinned

no feelings whatsoever
of the animals plight
totally uncaring
and unappreciative
of right

in the circus nobody has rights
really none at all
they travel here
they travel there
on nobody they call
they simply make their own laws
and satisfy themselves
and the animals have to
lump it and its not until
one delves

like PETA or some independent
animal rights brigade
that all of this is brought out
and the gory facts are laid
open to the public
but still most do not care
they have their individual fear
and seem so unaware

like so many things today
there is great pressure
every independent business
feels
we are up against the corporate
giant
the strength the power
that pressure just reveals

that’s how circus operates
its a sort of shady show
one minutes it is somewhere
the next well it did go
there is no continuity
and so it gets away
with what become underhand
abuse even today

the incident I write about
happened in Shanghai
between a bear and a monkey
and the monkey it did die
the monkey taught to ride a bike
and so got on his way
peddling like the clappers
to get out of the way
of a bear whose also taught to ride
and does ride at a pace
because he wants to eat
the monkey, you can see that
on his face

he’s hungry but the monkey
just wants to get away
and this is of course the circus act
and why the crowds do pay
inside they want the monkey to get eaten
they want the thrill to see the blood and gore
putting that sweet monkey in this scenario
is sinful,it is sick which some ignore

the monkey, he’s alone unpaid uncared for
he’s the victim, he’s the living bait
he’s the one who has to peddle madly
or with death alas he makes his date
the bear is really hungry
and he wants that monkey bad
and so he peddles like the clappers
the scenario is sad

he catches up and pounces
and scoffs the monkey whole
the handlers look amazed at that
they just cannot control
a hungry bear
who sets his sights
on monkey for his meal
watched by screaming children
who do not know how to feel

blood and guts are everywhere
the monkey is no more
the bear is rather happy
but is sorry for the gore
judgement comes across
to some
how foolish that all was
how inevitable the result here
really just because

the monkey had no rights at all
was expendable, a shame
but they could get another monkey
who would ride the same
this is what the voiceless
have to suffer every day
whether its an elephant
or a chicken they all pay

with terrible lives of torture
or CAFO’s where they re bred
to live short lives of agony
and then of course are dead
for every sort of reason
with profit for a few
and the public have lost sight
of them
its just one big corporate stew

which everyone partakes of
adds excuses now and then
dapples here and dapples there
but from one point all does stem
rights the rights of freedom
the individual’s right
to live a life thats fair to them
and whose way ahead feels bright

Animals in circus
as everybody knows
in entertainment and sporting events
their futility it grows
the corporates have taken over
and truly intercede
the slaughtering is massive
the innocent they bleed

everywhere the wild one’s
the farmed ones how they die
the meat trade and the fish trade
and the dairy trade
are high
rollers in the murder game
hunting trapping we
see carnage almost everywhere
its massive actually

so circus back to circus
its passed its sell by date
like rodeo and bull fighting
really we can’t wait
we have to see an end to it
the animals can not be
treated in such an awful way
it must end now
and we must see

the end for those unfortunates
and the mayhem of it all
this monkey bear scenario
is a case that does appal
but its duplicated everywhere
millions of times no doubt
its just this got on the internet
ad went viral it got out

the handlers can do nothing
but watch this evil scene
and this is why so many say
circus is obscene
circus does it own thing
circus is today
passed it evil sell by date
and must be made to pay.
animals and circus must never
be allowed
the voiceless ones they have no rights
and in abuse are showered
they are housed extremely badly
fed or the cheapest stuff
tortured throughout training
life for them is tough
and many are sick and still
they must perform and hungry too
the bear that got the monkey
made the internet
the view
was ghastly for that monkey
a sacrificial soul
but lets hope the world
wakes up and slams
orders that control
what they do and how they do
and animals to be banned
this is now a requirement
to take effect throughout the land
