Torneo de Lazo A direct and personal appeal to the President of Mexico

To murder Bulls
is already a vile pastime
spectacular its not
not any more
in my humble opinion
whoever thought it up
had no compassion
just a love of gore

but to introduce
a horse into the equation
and clad it in the
frippery of sin
and lead it into harms way
which is what of course they are doing
to me this form
is really wearing thin

who sits atop a steed
but the bold Picador
who has the job of
sticking a sword into
the Bull which is going to make him
even angrier
with the horse at his level
could then be run through

evisceration inflicted
by the bulls horn
to me its frightfully obvious
the pain
must be unbelievable to contemplate
but it happens
so I hear
time and again

my appeal to you sir
as the president
is this is vile behaviour
on all counts
violence does breed violence
and youngsters watching this
may just be nullified
to the amounts

this is wrong
the horse in abject agony
anybody seeing this would be
moved to tears and sickened by it
lomg term
and if I myself had seen this
it would be the same for me

that thought it should now
occupy your psyche
for long term
this is not the way to go
for murdering bulls
and eviscerating horses
is hardly entertainment
as you know

so you can think it over
how the outside world might view
the continual slaughter
and what its going to do
Mexico is a fine upstanding place
with a history
with fine upstanding ancestors
which is how it ought to be

I leave it to you Enrique Pena Nieto
just think about it
mull it over, see
banning it would be a breath
of fresh clean air
blowing gently off the azure sea

maintaining it will drive
away those tourists
who hate the thought of blood
and agony
who hear reports of gangs
and negative goings on
but know you have compassion
and they will be

flocking to your country
I am certain
judgement of this kind
will bring them back
what this world needs
is, love and compassion
which many other countries sadly lack
