At the edge of the Dawn

In tearful repose
at the edge of the Dawn
I sat with my love
and we watched
a small fawn
feeding close by
in a small dappled glade
where the light from the moon
slowly did fade
we sat on a trunk
just holding hands
evolving and solving
what seemed timeless sands
that passed through our fingers
and onto the earth
I guess in that moment
we’d had a re birth
the fawn was at rest
a babe so alone
silently soaked in suggestions
we’d sown
soulfully sentient
sylvan silvered sense
soft sighing sonnets
sprung with suspense
suddenly she sprang
silently soaked
in a mist of soft air
that seemingly cloaked
not only her but both of us too
at the edge of the Dawn
giving rise to the dew
we retraced our steps
and went back to our car
just a short distance away
not very far
and just sat
and looked out at the forest
for we
realised at that moment
through the Dawn, we could see
that fawn with its mother
coming towards
probably one of life’s
wondrous rewards
they both stared at us
both had tears in their eyes
at the edge of the Dawn
that was such a surprise
