The Mexican Wolf
knows how to suffer
life and its habitat
kind of gets tougher
and nothing to do
with what really was right
it was down to the corporates
joining the fight
the government too
got its nose in the trough
turning a blind eye
and seeing them off
the Mexican Wolf
was as wild as could be
but was soon shot and killed
farmers earned
easily
at the end of a barrel
the wolf often found
that that was his lot
and he died on the ground
massacred daily
not given a chance
protecting the cattle
his death did enhance
the farmers entitlement
for what they earned
just as long as the
wolf was bloody well burned
The Mexican Wolf
took a hammering, well
it fell by the wayside
and hunters from Hell
were seen to be going
around every day
killing whole packs
and making them pay
re introducing them
just wasn’t backed
the farmers were powerful
and they could attract
positive payments
politicians soon saw
violations continued
which most did ignore
endangered species
man made them, that
and the greed still continues
for that’s where we’re at
few now stick up for the voiceless alas
there’s no money to make
and where is the ass
prepared to forgo the
cash in the hand
the wolves have now vanished
from all round the land
unless we get on the case
the ranchers will
flood the wild habitat
and they will kill
every last wild soul
that ply’s the wild lands
that’s what they’re doing
its in our own hands
Its just no good crying
when the wolves are dead
and cattle are everywhere
we’re being led
shouting and screaming
to the corporate site
where wild lands are
lost
and where day becomes night
