Its a pretty frustrating
existence today
arborial apes don’t
get all there own way
for corporate interests
and the palm oil brigade
are chopping our trees down
and really that’s laid
waste to the places
that we like to be
up in the glorious
high canopy
swinging around
enjoying the day
but life’s pretty hard
now I have to say
of course Birate Galdikas
is a good friend
she cares
and loves us
and of course
she does lend
all of her
waking hours
to what we do
how we fare
such a soul
is just
wonderful
few
people devote
their lives
to a cause
but this women
truthfully
just doesn’t pause
she’s there for us
helping to educate those
palm oil creators
and I suppose
she has made
significant changes
and we
love her
just love her
unconditionally
but the forests are going
some 50%
have been turned into palm oil
Malaysia just went
mad for the stuff
the corporates too
found something
that increased their profits
a few
made a killing
and orangutans, yes have died
or been caught up in plans
and many have lied
they raze to the ground
they log, slash and burn
which fills all of us
with tremendous concern
for our future
our families
what are we to do
habitat loss
and transferred to some zoo
we wild souls remember
the need to be left
to remain in the forest
and not be bereft
of our trees, of the vines
of the fruits and to be
sharing the planet too
forever free.
