The Christmas Tree

The twinkle of fairy lights
on a pine tree
minus its roots
a shame
its a plea
of mine, that the growers
do not saw the roots
for what ever reason
I see them as brutes

the trees torn from mother earth
minus their roots
shoved into a pot
to perish, it suits
those growers and householders
to watch and smile
as Christmas festivities
soon reconcile

the gradual fading away
of the tree
which is tinselled and baubled
and left tragically
lit up with multi-phased computer lights
Edison I’m sure had them in his sights
and there the tree sits
feeling sorry I’m sure
it must deal with the heating
but try to ignore

the great lack of water
as it slowly dies
decked out in silver
and yule tide surprise
