Nobody wants me this Christmas

Nobody wants me
that’s what we say
but really and honestly
Do dogs feel this way?
lamenting that humans
don’t have the same thought
remember the wolves
the love that is caught
up in a pack,so evidenced by
their very survival
sometimes, I sigh

at why we put out
human messages for
animal earthlings
I’m not very sure
we’re appealing to humans
oh yes that is true
but poor little strays
I think what they do
is not expect much
and if it comes through
then clearly they’re
happy
here thats my view

how many animals in this
old world
get love and know how love
can kind of be hurled
in every direction
abuse too can be
no sentient being wants
love less its free
and if it means
lying under some tree
or under some floorboards
very lonely
at least no abuse
is coming your way
and hope springs eternal
that love will one day
come in a parcel
with so much true joy
when some one says
come on
I love you sweet boy
