Reality in the farmyard

the birth of a cow
the stress and the strain
a baby is born
its beginning to rain
it falls on the straw
and tries to regain
its footing but of course
it falls over again

its legs are so weak
its abundantly clear
its been in the warmth
curled up, now its here
rapidly, its legs are
strengthening and
soon it will walk
by itself on the land

but for not very long
for adversity comes
man the arch enemy
and his boot numbs
humanity really
for as we now peer
into the barn
it seems very clear

the calf is a male
and is now dragged away
and kicked by the farmer
for this is the day
it must die
the air even it
cannot taste
The milk from its mother
the farmer won’t waste
on the baby
its off to the dairy
to sell
and despatches
the poor baby
directly to Hell
the mother in tears
bellows for days
but profit comes first
