Help us we are being murdered hand over fist

Hiding in the Bush
our plight a real one
new life in our pouch
a soft wee soul
surviving in what has
become a war zone
with men on every corner
yes alone!

rifles cocked
the searing pain of evil
our job these days
to hide and not be seen
what is now survival
of our species
up against what is
the mean machine

seemingly a heartless
vile assassin
whose motives are
financially to claim
not an ounce of sentient
material, nor pity
for it seems we do inflame

the grey suits back in Canberra
who listen
to the farmers
who whine on about the way
we eat their wheat
and cause immense frustration
but its all a pack of lies
and we do pay

with our lives
its a terrible indictment
We’re victims
for they come for us
each day
mean spirited and ghoulish
we are losing touch
finding it impossible
to play

where we have existed now
for centuries
in the outback
where no one can see
the carnage that goes on
our blood is everywhere
Our joey’s too dispatched
remorselessly
decapitated,and left
to the maggots
which apparently
is for you
a tours de force
We are out here
all alone
frightened as our seeds
are sown
our future now seems
doomed without recourse

we’re being murdered
its despicable what
so called sentient
men
can do out in the blackness
of the bush
alone its when
their sordid evil character
is witnessed by the few
who have the heart to follow
and watch ust what they do

Help us we’re being murdered
for our flesh and for our skin
shoes and gloves and football boots
it surely is a sin
and such a vile reality
is growing by the day
and we are disappearing
being made to pay

For what is now complacency
the sordid truth is we
are victims of another
holocaust which concerns me
Yes I’m one of the kangaroo’s
with a joey and I must try
To protect it for if I drop my guard
I know we both will die.
