440,000 Joey’s that’s baby Kangaroos killed each year

Australia, I have to say
I’m totally at a loss with you
Killing babies in the Bush
A little JOEY who, was
Tucked up inside its mother’s pouch
And you have licensed men
with rifles to go out at night
and create, bloody mayhem

Then they rip the babies
from the pouch
and smash their tiny head
with an iron bar
what a star they are!
If the poor thing isn’t dead
They are hit once more
Arn’t You just the hero!
are you proud of what you do
Hiding in the darkness
to kill the Kangaroo

Why don’t you get a better job
Saving the poor souls
Instead of going slaughtering them
Refuse these mad controls
440,000 little joey’s killed
how many dollars do they pay you
really are you thrilled?

I just travelled through Australia
And I never saw one Roo
Not leaping happily in the Bush
Just one dead, thanks to you
Lying quietly by the road
Steaming in the sun
Riddled with fat maggots
God what have you done

Australia you got to show restraint here
This sweet iconic soul
has got to be
saved from all these costly culls
for otherwise
There won’t be any left
for us to see
