Tordisillas ( a macabre festival)

Tordisillas in September
a place never to go
boycott the place
don’t show your face
because of course you know

the murdering of one brave bull
goes far beyond the pale
far beyond whats decent
and it leaves a bloody trail

of mayhem and of agony
and suffering for all
and with all those crowds
to egg it on
fiesta there’s a school

of thought surrounding this town
that asks what’s its all for
don’t talk to us’of culture
or tradition any more

this is murder in the first degree
of that we are sure
the bull gets so frustrated
which nobody can ignore

with all the noise the strees and pain
he’s chased in to a field he is
and it all starts up again
lots of vino lots of fizz

men on foot and men on horseback
use their lances to
stab him, and they stab him
and try to run him through

the pain must be immense for him
the loss of blood and terror there
and people baying for more blood
for more wanton despair

that bull is proud and courageous
he tried to buck the trend
he tries to run the gambit
the message it does send

and then they cut his testicles off
thats whilst he’s alive
imagine the pain and agony
how can any bull survive

but thats just really the start of it
they carry on until
the bull sinks on its haunches
and just waits for the kill

last year it was a screwdriver thrust
into its head
goodness knows what it will be this year
what will kill it dead

and this is Spain’s great festival
the cultural king of grief
anyone that witnesses this
perhaps has no belief

that anyone could ever put an animal through all this
just in the arrangements
someone takes the piss
the world is up in arms about this
but Spain just snubs their nose
its up to caring people
to not turn up at thei shows

to boycott Spain
to pose that question
what’s it all about
why are they so bloody cruel
it doesn’t bring in tourists
and actually does fuel

the protests
that’s the seriousness of what
its all about the callousness
of this town and why we see this rout
Tordisillas your fiesta is a vile and nasty show
and is bringing bad karma into Spain as well you know

Petitions start up every year
and thousands join them but they
don’t make a hapeth of a difference
and so Spain what we say

is boycott Spain until
the show is cancelled
boycott Spain that is the only way
hit them in their pockets
don’t buy Spanish Wine
tapas or the rest
