A pill to erase thoughts of war

Soldiers coming back from War
Suffer there’s no doubt
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Its like a lifetimes rout
Seeing dreadful goings on
In theatre’s of War
Leaves them in a state
They never ever felt before

For 10-30% of them, great anger
and the pain stays with them almost
till they die
As if they are insane
Flashbacks clearly drain
And shock and torment
Are locked behind each eye

You take a pill
And everything wiped away
DCS was for TB
But the memory they say
Its just like a magnetic strip
the ingredients are key
And all the hatred and murderous thoughts
Are wiped immediately

And back they come
These warriors who dragged
themselves through blood
Decapitations bodies cut to pieces
A great flood
Of intestines and limbs flying
One pill and all is calm
Chocolate mints and daffodils
And a world absent of harm

S was originally prescribed
for TB
But now they want to try it out
on soldiers memory
Its not about to happen
The only true way through
Is not experiencing the trauma
That what they have to do
Trauma isn’t only war
Accidents and strain
They must be mad to think some
pill will do the trick again
But then if they could drug their soldiers
Into committing heinous crimes
Warriors who sank to great depths
And recalled just the good times
Then we would have so descended
creating monsters, thoughtless souls
Anti humans hired killers
Returnees no one consoles
