Foie Gras

I do think we’ve come far enough
Along the road, and we
Should ban foie gras, ban gavage
Force Feeding, tragically
Is not a natural way to treat
Ducks or Geese, and so
It might have been here many years
But now of course we know

Its inhumane to do this
Their sufferings are immense
Truly so called gastronomes
seem to lack all sense
The sense of looking after
A sentient being who
need be tortured, for 3 long weeks
its not the thing to do

Considering it a luxury
With Armagnac or prunes
Quince served up with rustic crusts
and Wasabi drizzle tunes

I do think we’ve come far enough
along the road and we
Should ban this evil product now
I never want to see

its sitting on the shelves of shops
in a cruel and nasty tin
700 grams of diseased liver
its pure sin

production banned here thankfully
but can be imported still
trade laws are an anomaly
and I suppose they always will

Prince Charles has put his spoke in too
foie gras will never be
served at Buckingham Palace
so there, no one will see

so the only place in London
is Fortnums in Piccadilly
why they feel that it is right
to me its bloody silly

to me they ought to have the guts
to realise that most
of the UK and half the world
won’t eat this on their toast

they believe that it is the vilest
product
that ever came along
and that Fortnum and Mason
are selling it still
when they must know it’s bloody wrong

which goes to show the mentality
of buyers who proclaim
that they will keep on stocking it
for to stop would be a shame
