The very last moment

Animals sense that they are going to die
Being forced down the chute
In themselves they just cry
Hearing the agony up front what they
Do is back up and try to get away
It’s then, when the love in their life
Tends to be
Frighteningly obvious so frantically
They try to reverse even climb barriers they
Shudder and scream they just know it’s the day
Of their death..
