Lundy Island

12 miles away from North Devon

in the Bristol Channel lies

a granite island

attracting sea birds

and wild souls where the wise

frequent this ancient territory

where wildness is a thing

many drawn to enjoy it’s wealth

that honestly together bring

visitors from many places

to see the sea birds there

the puffins   the Manx shearwaters

and assorted gulls

all share

pygmy shrews  Sika Deer

wild Goats  and ponies too

soay sheep, rabbits

highland cattle  who

along with Gloucester old spot pigs

piperstrelle bats

That Sail

dolphins porpoises grey seals

And the odd minke whale

there really is an abundance of wildness

and a trail

of freedom seeking

visitors

no cars and no TV

no street lights just imagine that

its how things ought to be

nature is the masterful one

accommodating a few

kindly souls who live there
