The combination out there
Of ignorance and arrogance
Coupled with a negligence
Creates abomination
A reserve in Mawana
A fence was broken through
The futility of people there
Was anything but true
A game reserve
And seven elephants
Roaming they got through
the broken fence
And terrorised
The community tis said
Actually killed a Shepherd
One of their brethren dead
Feeling intimidated
And uneasy what we see
Is the elephants were murdered
It became a reality
Being apprehensive
Of the hazard in their midst
Destruction thus took precedent
They just couldn’t resist
That surge of fear and sorrow
The need to blatantly
Kill the creatures
Sacrifice them
Really, seemingly
A pointless decision
Frighteningly made
Seven beautiful masterful souls
On the ground we’re laid
A country such as South Africa
To me I do surmise
Might have thought more sensibly
And could realise
The need to save these animals
To mend the bloody fence
To call in those who cared
And could have come to their defence
Wasting animal spirits
Is a vile and rotten thing
Amazing creations
To this world they bring
Such regeneration
Creatively aspire
And murdering them
In ignorance
Is igniting a fire
Of violence and such mayhem
And hideous intent
Revengefulness apparent
Impassive inclement
