Mother and baby chained to post for photo shoot near the roadside

This picture tells a story
of what is wilful neglect
hurt is right across their faces
though this has gone unchecked
violated daily
treated with disregard
clearly such transgression
has seemingly been hard

casting such enormous
shadows on two souls
as we see,
feeling the deepest sorrow
that probably could be
and these are two wild
monkeys
chained there to the floor
their movements so restricted
why we ask, what for?

abuse and its so, abusive to
a mother and her child
the baby is beside itself
the mother clearly
reconciled
to spending what life’s left, here
hoping to make some loot
waiting for the tourist bus
and the same old photo shoot
