“Herbie”passed on recently but his memory will last forever

Death comes to us all
to every living soul
we have to take on board
the thought
its coming
but when and how
is out of our control

“Herbie” was a hound
a loving creature
abused and left to starve
for want of care
when he was found
he weighed just 25 pounds
and so pitiful he looked
just lying there

a pit bull mix
a character who proved
to the whole world
that he was a gentle fellow
just into a sick place hurled
we all have a right of life
free from such abuse
but cancer took him sadly
although he slipped one noose

he brought to bear tenacity
and valour, which we saw
but sadly his last day
was in the arms of broz
the door
finally closed gently
in the clinic in Lorain
he closed his eyes
and took his place
upon the higher plain
not in this world anyway
but clearly somewhere’s new
where he could play
in a sunny place
with thoughts of all of you
