Aquaculture and the RSPCA

Personally I have always thought
Aquaculture wasnt right
I fought against its introduction
For organic salmon
But of a blight
of understanding
Reigned supreme and despite my personal fear
Organic aquaculture
Happened and it was clear

Bringing together so many fish
Was bound to cause problems and they
Were loaded for making profits
Which always gets in the way
Of ethic and environmental truth
With knock on affects
For all
With derogations likely seeing
Organic standards fall

Excuses become the norm alas
And despite size numbers they
Have to use pesticides which fail to work
And lead to an array
Of yet more derogations
And a lightening of the load
On fish farmers that truthfully
Break the organic code

GEorge Monbiots excellent article
In the Guardian yesterday
Talked about the seals
And The RSPCA
How “Marina”just one solitary seal
Was saved by them but they
Are watching farmers shoot
Hundreds of seals
With not a lot to say

Farms are given certification
Of RSPCA that doesnt signify organic
FAr from it I will say
But it compromises environmentsl standards
And we see
Other animals affected and
Really this shouldnt be

There are many implications
Feed is one for sure
The fisherman are scooping up huge quantities
And more
Of anchovies and sardines and mackeral
And herring fry
and they become fish pellets
Someone must ask why

All these little fishes are then
Excluded from the wild
The baleen whales the other fish
The indigenous people
Dialled
into the need
To build upon the masses
So everyone can feed

The waste and there is vast amounts
Under the radar they
Create a vile incendiary
Of feces every day
The sea bottom is often torn up
With all life forms their gone
And the sea lice when they
Find so many fish
Will dwell upon

And so we see vast quatities of
Pesticides abroad
Even in organic aqua culture
Not met with accord
But sadly it has to happen
Based on arrogance I feel
And ignorance which together
They all try to conceal

Wild fin fish are now suffering
The environments are too
The qualities of protein
For the farmed fish
Its not true
Drop down fed on fish fry
Pellets which to me
Is kind of telling porkies
For the wild fish actually

Farmed fish served in restsurants
And sold off in stores
Sales are falling rather
Everyone ignores
The fact that many wild fish
Are not around as much
Farmed fish are much cheaper
But not everyone is such

An expert on what fish they buy
The cheapest seems to me
Is now outselling wild fish
Purely on price
It be
Eacapees are now changing
The wild fish quality
By introducing parasites
Where they shouldnt be

As to the RSPCA certifying farms
That do not double net
Their tanks
No one is having qualms
About this
And the shooters are killing seals
Like mad
And still get their certIfication
Which is entirely sad

I think dealing with animals
To be subjective we
When dealing with their life and death
We really have to be
vegan
If we are eating fish and meat
As carnivores
You cannot expect the rigidity
In the standards laws

And this for me is reason enough
To really say aloud
Fish farming and trophy hunting
Really draws a cloud over
What is farmed compared
To wild and natural for we
Are unable to inject profit
First
And expect the world to be

THe Natural way is based around
Sustainablity
Tried and tested for millenia
Its balanced holistically
Where money is involved
And where profit is as well
You cannot have a system
That is anything but hell

On earth for all the creatures
Involved in the idea
The sea life and the sea lice
And the crustaceans that appear
Predation that is out there
Sharing the bounty too
And comes up against the balance sheet
And we know then what we do

Its arrogance personified
In every walk of life
To imagine we can replicate
Wild nature without strife
Without creating anomalies
As we increase the scale
The human is the anathema
Who is always set to fail.
