We are what we are
What we always were
Our feet in the soil
The wind was our spur
To greater things really
We felt with our eyes
We knew when the men
Were telling their lies
Our roots went down deep
We sustained ourselves well
We knew those old mountains
Backdrops for each spell
Where did we come from
From a mother who knew
The ways of the old craft
And we lived it too
We took on the toughness
The wind and the rain
Nothing does phase us
We are a link in a chain
That stretches for miles
We are what we are
Born of the druids
In our world we star
In our veins we have blood
As rich as can be
Wild food and fire
We ate constantly
We knew a great deal
Sunk in our sinew
The ways of the old ones
We knew what to do
We sat by the fireside
And watched our mama
Curing the sickness
Almost from afar
The berries the leaves
The roots that she kept
By the besom the fireside
She was so adept
We learned so much from her
We felt with our eyes
We saw with our hearts
The men who told lies
The past was our learning
And we are still here
Watching and listening
Filled with all that cheer
