The ice flowers of winter
That bloom at my door
That curl around blossoms
And offer me more
The inuit know it
They see it its form
Its crystalline pictures
That change when its warm
Its colour its texture
Its look so serene
Attracting the silence
Covering the green
Such contemplation
It softens and brings
A gentle reflection
To anyones wings
Millions of crystals
Hang in the air
Shot through with sunlight
Each rainbow so rare
though we have darkness
The light forms attract
A whiteness and lightness
And that is a fact
A transforming resilience
A bright ermine shroud
That indulges children
Whose voices so loud
So joyful remember
The sleigh where it be
And the skates in the attic
And how to feel free
To respond to jacks frostiness
His tranquil calm
The white clouds of softness
The haunting cold balm
That spreads like an ocean
Of flakes near and far
Each one resembling our favourite star
Getting up in the morning
And seeing the tracks
The wild souls who played there
When we slept more facts
The spirit encompasses
The sweet desire
To follow the wild souls
And share in their fire
As more snow flakes tumble
Rejoicing we be
Trudging in wellies
Warm socks yes three
Pairs no cold tootsies
Its pleasant out here
Playing snow balls with mummy
And feeling the cheer
Sublimity follows our eyes everywhere
A brilliance a loveliness all now can share
Each flake such perfection
An enchantress made
Each facet each colour
That will never fade
A child’s equilibrium
Fashioned today
By the carpet of whiteness
That wanders away
To the end of their universe
Over the street
Across all the rooftops
And looking so neat
A great source of light
A true revelation
A fantasy really
Of such a creation
Straight out of a dream
A true reverie
An attention to detail
And such scrutiny
It has no comparison
It is unique
Such expectations
Even the weak
Manage to follow
The paths to the place
Where Rabbits and Foxes
And other souls chase
