I was feeding alone in Tsavo
Not far from the Mzima Springs
Minding my own business
In a good light
With the warmth that the good
Sun still brings
The sky was as blue as an ocean
A light breeze that just about cooled
I wasn’t aware there were people there
But realised it as I hauled
My leg out the way it was paining me so
An arrow had hit me an soon I did know
It must have been poisoned for I felt so bad
It really was as if I had been had
It was terribly painful
I began to hurt
And fell pretty hard onto the red dirt
It was such tribulation
I was filled with remorse
Writhing and harrowed
And sickly of course
I fell down concerned about
Just how I felt
They were after my tusks
The wrong cards were dealt
I was their scapegoat
Laden with pain
And I felt I would die
If it had reached my brain
I was hot I was cold
I shivered a lot
I wanted to run
But was transfixed on this spot
The poison was working
My comfort zone gone
Dropping onto my knees
I fell down upon
Then I heard in the sky
Overhead a great bird
Those kind of twirly things
That was the third
One I remembered and it was
Coming down
Perhaps there were people
Coming to the town
I blacked out completely
And when I came around
My leg was much better
Thats what I found
They had removed the arrow
And given me stuff
And bandaged the hole
In me, yes I was tough
Those poachers are bastards
They kill us for cash
They get loads of money for Ivory
Trash!
they are really trash men
No hearts and no soul
Just bloody great guns
Thinking they are in control
In my case they fired an arrow
To kill
And my leg had leaked badly
And made me still
I had felt dejected
Dismal and flat
In so much pain
Never knew where I was at
Alive to it then blacking out very fast
I had lost all hope
It happened so fast
But the veterinaries
Were up to the task
They got what they wanted
When they did ask
I was then pumped with the antibiotic
It gave me a headache
And a strong case of colic
But soon I recovered
From I may have been killed
With thanking Wee an
For More blood might have spilled
My life was saved by the David Shelldrake
Wild life trust people
Again they are no fake
They used their experience
And saved my life
And eased the pain
And put paid to my strife
I owe my life to the David Shelldrake team
They acted swiftly and they did redeem
The terrible action which I did confront
When the arrow hit me
Those bastards who hunt
Me and from the rest of us I want to say
We hate you you bastards
Will you please go away
We need our lives
And our tusks
And our horn
nature put us here
It was where we were born
Unlike you human earthlings
All over the place
Destroying the planet
For every race
Eating yourselves out of house and of home
Killing the animals that now do roam
Sucking our blood and eating our meat
And raising the dead and creating the heat
We are the planet we are a cause
For why you two legged ones now better pause
You are in destruction mode seems to me
And if you don’t change tack its an end game for thee
