Habitat loss

Mile after mile
We encroach into Hell
Building on green belt
And fracking as well
Mediocrity coming
Suburbia too
Where there were forests
Now what to do

If you are a wild soul
With hunters about
And folk building houses
And of course they flout
Your whereabouts
You have no where to go
And hunt it’s more dangerous
As well you know

And if your a fox
Where you will be
Is around their gardens
Looking to see
Whether, they have chickens
Or if there’s a hunt
And whether it’s worth
To have you a punt

You’ll be out there early
And late at night
Checking their bin bags
Seeing what’s right
All sorts of human stuff
That’s what you do
A fox in suburbia
Yea good and true

Or raiding the chickens
Or a nearby farm
Taking the eggs
That’s where there’s harm
Close to the humans
That’s when you can
Get a bit close
To the old farmer man

A fox is a chancer
He is wily as well
Gets through a hole in the fence
For a spell
Go after anything
That is around
Ducks and koi carp
Just anything found

People with small holdings
Do tend to feel peeved at the fox
For he’s the real deal
He will take out their chickens
Their ducklings may be
And steal their eggs
Very, blatantly

Then there’s the hunters
And the terrier men
All after foxy
Who lives in his den
And if just at the foot of a garden then he
Will have to take heed
Or he will likely be

Eaten alive by the dogs
That’s for sure
So a fox has to watch out
It’s like all out war
Everything likes fox
And everyone tries
To get at his arse
All of the guys
