Indian Owls

Soon it is Diwali

the festival of lights

a time of joy and happiness

with everybody’s sights

set on future goodness

but seemingly we hear

wild owls are going through it

being sacrificed, the fear

of ritualistic magic

of medicinal threat

even Harry Potter

has been blamed

for it has set

minds a leaping forward

Hedwig and some more

harry potter themed birthdays

need an owl or two

what for?

you may well ask

but clearly owls are being killed

at puja’s and the rituals

their blood is being spilled

totems, superstitions

sees them traded tragically

the tantricks use their body parts

a bloody Diwali

its against the law to hunt them

that was banned in 72

so its a covert practice

and very sinful too

the owl is very important

in the wilds its needed to

balance the predation

so its sacrifice won’t do
