In many ways this
picture shows up the human race
shows us up for what we are
how sadly the great pace
of living has depressed us
our alleyways are dark
we are lost in all of it
everywhere lies stark
all because we are wishy washy
really we can’t see
but plonk an orangutan in that picture
and then of course they be
so representative, of paradise
that once upon a time was there
the green trees and the lovely flowers
and a place we all could share
a world so full of colour
pictures of somewhere nice
packed with life and oxygen
but we now settle for strife
for inner city mayhem
contagion and the rest
prostitution
and unsanitary conditions
which at best
show us really
how we have
alloswed ourselves to be
manipulated by the corporate world
and now what we see
are orangutan’s their
wondrous hue
of red sticks out a mile
it brightens up the dingy
alleys
perhaps for a short while
we see now
just how basic
and dreadful now where we live
the basic frills are
dustbin spills
and rats
which kind of give
the place a hint of colour
but basically we spoil
every natural thing we touch
we even spoil the soil
fill it full of chemicals
and watch erosion come
the human being
was not all seeing
he is in fact quite numb
his lungs are full of carbon
his blood is full up too
he’s sick and he is ailing
and doesn’t know what to do
the forests all are torn down
for oil palm and the rest
rate and cobras
frequent
nothing is now blessed
the corporates run the world today
the people are their slaves
the organutan’s are memories
and there are many graves
the planet itself is reeling
the cities are below
the soil that was fracked to misery
as most of you may know
