The cougar what a proud and beautiful
soul
a wild one who
walks alone and it is known
knows exactly what to do
a life of such contentment
the experience is whole
silently and solidly
takes on that special role
another apex predator
part of the great wheel
of Nature in their being
so much they conceal
integral to the balance
to the equilibrium we
pick up from the forests
from the mountains
where they be
they are solitary
and remain so
their intelligence immense
they understand their being
they have an enormous sense
of direction and of fore thought
which holds them in good stead
man alone is their enemy
and he appears now wed
to the idea he’s superior
a god inside his frame
with little attention to the whole
to him life’s one big game
and everything else has no bearing
instinctively he’s less
than a worm now crawling in the earth
but his value causes stress
he arms himself with his rifles
he is sold on slaughter, he
has no regard to the natural world
and its purpose, he’s not free
he’s a slave and has a slaves mind
he’s been pummelled by the state
he drives one of those 4 by 4’s
and inside himself he is great
he wants the head of a cougar
on his study wall
to remind him what a bastard is
and how the bastards rule
the universe, his universe
for he decides the fates
of every living soul alive
and he above all rates
his chances he behind a gun
sports a deadly stance
stalks the lonely cougar
shares its final dance
200 maybe living
he wants to bag one still
he wants one of the 80
being shot to show his skill
alas true skill of purpose
is to leave the wild one’s be
go out with a camera perhaps
and check in with the free
spirit of the cougar
share the midnight sky
but leave the soul to wander
in the shadows asking why
being truly natural
living out its time
creation gave it purpose
there is really is no rhyme
or reason in the scheme of things
to terminate and kill
any soul that creation gave
a spirit and a will
to men I say be wary
of what you seek to do
to slaughter and to finish
lives pre judged the view
is there’s not yours and ending
another’s just so you
can sport their head upon your wall
is a devilish thing to do
the state in which you hunt the prey
has also lost its way
its lost sight of the value
of life I have to say
just 200 cougars left
roaming the wild
and 80 of them will be killed
this cannot be reconciled
in the creations book of knowledge
its a tempestuous affair
its shows how man has slipped down
if he wants to waste the rare
