Oliver

Behind bars he lived
about 30 years
and now he is well sort of free
a bear lives on this mortal plain
about this period
and so we see
his last days really
loved at last
his loneliness is his
no wild oats sown
no love of his own
his die it seems is cast
he swims he eats
and he is aware
of his age
and possibly he
may regret that he was
a prisoner and that now he be
free of that completely
and receiving love and care
so he sits an dreams
and plays with branches
and really starts to share
what little time is left for him
his big claws and shiny eyes
clearly he must now forgive
for he is very wise
