An apparition seen in DAGNELL

A weird apparition was apparently seen

in the Gade valley mists

Occupying a scene

The  sky looking  purple

and the road very quiet

hardly a  car anywhere

had there been

up by the monastery

and across the field green

the curl of a wood

looking down on Dagnall

seemingly could

make out this figure

hunched over  a car

as white as the snow

not very far

away

An effeminate creature

stood still

Apparently glancing up

to the hill

where the monastery stands and further along

the tyre place

and  other  allotments belong .

a willowy stature

robotic said one

a resident possibly

out having fun

over the road

and into the field

stared at the chalk stream

somewhat concealed

across the bridge

turned around

and we saw

that creamy white face

But no one was sure

whether it was human

or animal  or

an apparition

From long long before

When the road was a track

Full of water and mud

when at night

all you heard was the rattle and Thud

of   carts bound for Hemel

All laden down

with great bags of fuel

for selling in town.
