The Yew

Blackbirds,Thrushes,Field Fares
Squirrels, Dormice all do realise
Eating arils sweet and juicy
Really some of the years highs
Digestion allows the toxic seed
To pass the digestive tract
They get the taste and vitamin C
But pass the seed intact
So toxicity is not a factor
But of course for other souls
It kills them with far reaching powers
Life forms it controls.
