By-catch

to be trapped in some net and  hauled up

on a deck

rolling around its hard to keep check

rolling around in the ice and the rain

and getting a  knife handle  bashing your brain

These are the French fishermen of the sea

6000 of us, dying slowly

wretched and broken  thats how we be

the fuss at Taiji well we are busted here

However playful

really its clear

compassion is so hard  to come  by at sea

dolphins or orca’s  nothing is free

and nobody cares not any more

we are clever and joyful still they ignore

our tears and our sobs and our blood dripping fast

caring for us is a thing of the past.

in your mothers back bedroom

What do you see fuck all I tell you

and thats how we be by catch
