“Sparkle”

We found him
Little “Sparkle”
Looking rather sad
Very weak and emaciated
We thought in fact he had
Been a victim of a car strike
But found out actually
That he had just stopped eating
Anorexic tragically

We examined him in hospital
And realised that he
Probably Had Canine Distemper
And pneumonia,
We see
So many street dogs sadly
He discharging from his nose
So we gave him some antibiotics
And rapidly he rose
Again a lonely puppy
Given some hands on care
Talking to him cuddling him
Making him aware
There was no need for worry
He was now in care
And we would Not stop treating him
Our love we always share

Well he soon was eating
As joyous as could be
Running about wagging his tail
Unrecognisably
From when he came in poorly
ANIMALAID that’s us
And it’s wonderful to see
Our babies improve
Without a fuss
