“Dita”

It was April,
A brickworks
A production machine
Took the leg off a soul
A mother dog
Who had a role
In nursing her three pups
And now what we saw
Was a three legged dog
Stressed out for sure

barking a lot
Trying to let
Somebody know
That now her best bet.was to get help from someone
Clearly she was
Suffering badly
Really because

On three legs she couldn’t walk
Very far
They needed food
She was no star
So just went and barked
Telling people around
That she was in need
And her puppies were found

I accepted the challenge
and took them all back
In my car to my house
The dogs did attack
Clearly all frightened
All stressed out for sure
And ready to bite me
And offer a war

So time was the essence
I fed them of course
And gave them fresh water
all this at the source
lots of TLC and a clean blanket to play
and they all got stronger
Every day

The puppies got bolder
And boisterous they
Liked it a lot when I went into play
The mother was still very unsure
And aloof
But let me play with her pups
It’s the truth

The stress from her injury
Must have given her pain
and no one to care for her
So she had lain
Alone with the injury
Suffering so
And now I am witH her
And She doesn’t want to know

Trust is the thing
And that all takes time
Till today she is cagey
Still whilst they climb
The puppies all over me and love to play
They have the exhuberance
Which is okay
