Stonehenge

An ancient neolithic and unique monument
That shines a light out from the Salisbury Plain
Every eye that sees it is drawn by it
And feels the caring craftsmen and the pain
They went to to align it with the sunrise
Of Midsummer which was always by
design
The blue stones and the sarson’s carefully chosen
To stand alone and in essence help it shine

It has and will always be an inspiration
An abstract notion from a bygone age
The brainchild of ancestors
That brought imagination
The mindset
and the culture all could gauge

It called out lateral thinking
And contemplation
It’s deliberative and meditative when we
With our modern eyes wrapped in thoughts of long ago
Reflect what musing consequences see

The balladry of many thus combining
A Druidic refrain whose licence we
Come together now in exposition
With rituals in the open all Agree
An esotericism of the ancients
Whose magic arts and enchantments came to be
Officiates and every kind of worshipper
Could magnify the personage for free

To this day every moment we are close by
Departed spirits humble us to feel
Bygone deities and ancient aura’s
Within the circle are engaged for real
A godhead where the beautiful are manifest
Each order formed each ritual warmed
And won
Behold the corvids witness to the ceremony
And the perpetuity of all things done.
