“Brianna and Winter”

Unbelievable cruelty
Is carried out each day
In dairy farms across the globe
Where farmers will not pay
A penny more than they have to
Money the driving force
And many a pregnant cow
Is sent to the abattoir
The source
Impregnating cows
Is how there is milk around
To use
But cows so often pregnant
Really we do abuse
Every single dairy cow
She is pregnant all the time
It wears her down
She loses milk production
And my rhyme
is a reason
We must contemplate
For the farmers everywhere
Who send their cows to slaughter
Very much aware

That the mother has her baby
With all the maternal care
Being shipped to the slaughterhouse
The matriarchal dare
To do what perhaps some others
Just would never do
One such cow, YES she
Leapt off the second floor
Of the transporter cagily

Imagine that
right up there
In the dead of night
It was Just after Christmas
In the starry light
Standing with a crowd of other cows
Sharing their breath
Knowing she was going
Yes going to her death

And Inside her was a baby
Creations miracle who
Was very close to being born
Did the farmer have a clue?
This took place in New Jersey
On Route 80 when she leapt
Down onto the highway
Into the traffic swept

The indifference of the dairy
The insouciance displayed
Vegetarians everywhere
Who support this evil trade
Who love their milky chocolate
And of course DAIRY ice cream
In the darkness of each slaughterhouse
DO you hear the mothers scream

Those that give birth and the calf
Is taken straight away
The females go to veal perhaps
The males, what can I say
They may get to the abattoir
Or just get shot alone
Life that whole great miracle
Just an undertone

What’s godly about slaughter
Just because you chose
To become a dairy farmer
And for some reason pose
As some amazing fellow
The cruelty we see
The rape the kidnap
And the murder
The criminality

This night of the 27 th
Of December icy cold
Rumbling along the highway
They all had been sold
A mother who had carried
Her baby a long time
Was aware her child was kicking
wondered if she might climb

Get up on another cow and stick her head
Out of the truck
Leap into the darkness
Try to improve her luck
Down she fell an extraordinary
Thing for her to do
Bruise her knees
And bloody her nose
And her shoulder too

But be alive to realise
The truck went on it’s way
Her comrades all were finished
They would All be made to pay
For being slaves of the dairy
The wonderful industry
That has an unbiased attitude
To the mothers tragically

She blindly ran the gauntlet
With vehicles passing by
The police were called
Truckers stopped
She was haltered
Which is why
We are able to tell the story
A veterinary was called
And realised she was pregnant
And SKYLANDS were appalled
To hear this frantic mother
Had a very heavy child
And so agreed to take them both
The problem reconciled

Within two days the baby
A beautiful calf, indeed
Was born and both were happy
No slaughterman would bleed
The mother or the unborn calf
Commit the infanticide
RIP a foetus from her body
That act was denied.

“BRIANNA and dear WINTER”
A marvellous mother who
Loved her child and made the effort
That few with ever do
She might have just been slaughtered
But the police and trucks thank god
Were people with compassion
Unlike the dairy sod

Not some gruesome nasty bit of work
And there are some
Who see her as so many burgers
Really they are numb
To any sort of empathy
Despicable all day
The majority unfortunately
Who make the animals pay

Mind you they have no stomach
For what goes on I know
The oh so peaceful veggies
That love the dairy so
Yoghurts smoothies rich desserts
And milky chocolate they
Look down on meat eaters
But in honestly are a way

Down the karmic highway too
Where the babies suffer so
The mothers tHey are caring loving thoughtful
And they flow
True from all the milking
Go lame poor dairy slaves
And end up in meat eaters guts
Whose entrails are their graves

These two beautiful animals
Are now in Wantage where
SKYLANDS ANIMAL SANCTUARY
scoops up all the despair
Put its money where it’s mouth is
Loves the victims who
Happen to be the lucky ones
Who are the very few

Thousands of pregnant mothers
Go to slaughter everyday
Calf skin bags and a
Wallets
Remember what I say
Veal chained up and fed on milky slops
Until the time
Is right to cut their tiny throats
And remember them with a rhyme

Life it is enchanting
The composure and the calm
To commit it all to irreverence
To indifference and to harm
Disbelief from some of you reading this today
My eyes are full of tears
This I deem to say

They live with reputation
And respectability
Cream cakes cheese and custard
And insensibility
Can you taste the disrespect
The scorn and the disdain
Can you imagine the vile neglect
And the lasting pain.

I have a low opinion
Of the vegetarian hordes
Who believe their holy consequence
They will get no rewards
From me
Just castigation
Admonishment as well
For every pregnant mother
And their babies sent to hell.
