New years day ( a coming together of emotions)

A battle ground
Awaits the eyes
Of those who would be wild
Ashridge in the present
Witnessing this child
Absent for a lifetime
Whilst being hurled in flight
The baying hounds
In essence
Clearly now in sight

A new year in the offing
And already in my space
The red coated swines
With their violent spines
The so called human race
All at my back
The boundless hordes
Clattering behind
Tearing up the dormant leaves
Perchance perhaps to find

A tired exhausted reynard
Heading for his earth
The setting a great wintry wood
Where our mother once gave birth
To me and my young sister
Our placement close to where
The chase now felt more sinister
Raging with despair

Trees hung every which way
Torn down by the storm
Its hand had clearly battered
And shattered every form
All ghosts all phantoms
Silently
Lay across the way
Broken gnarled and sobbing
In an injurious display

Their hounds were at my being
Their teeth a gnashing they
Were almost in my aura
On this New Years Day
All my strength I pitted
Every sinew taut
And found a hole
To vent my soul
And a few more hours had bought.

A cacophony of hunters
A melee of distress
A pounding like great drums of war
Added to the duress
I wiggled through a tunnel
A system from before
And found another opening
And back into the raw

The hounds were all a panic
But I was on my way
Over the bush
And through the holly copse
Another day
Promised, that was very close
But fortunately for me
I had found an escape route
And once again was free

Happy new year to all my friends on facebook and twitter
Inspired the Boxing day hunts and my drive through Ashridge Forest just five minutes ago.
