abuse

We really have to ask ourselves
Why we allow abuse
Of animals like the kangaroo
There is no real excuse
They are wild and they are iconic
To Australia and they
Have been and won their totemic status and respect
Along the way

That we supposedly kindly
Should see them in the role
Of boxers in a boxing ring
Its so out of control
The fact that they are naturally
Ready to box a bit
Either in shows of strength
And or possibly keeping fit

Its done out in the outback
Its a natural way of defence
And humans importing the kangaroo
Really makes no sense
Certainly not to the animals
Its destructive and its cruel
What is carried on in nature
Isnt as a rule

Something that human beings
Can make money at no way
Its dangerous and its likely
To be excessive anyway
Animals have their place
Where they were put and they should stay
And generally they do infact
They respect their laws each day

Within them they are not evil
Though they face affliction they
Keep themselves very much to themselves
Thats the animals way
Its humans that conflate it all
Thats really where we err
Its a way to make some money
And be exclusive and we were

Back a hundred years ago
Doing it a lot
But it was and is just vile abuse
Really we should not
Take wild souls from their habitat
And put them to work with tricks
Training them in circus
Or even at the flicks

Its wholly wrong and its human
But its not humane at all
Wild animals in circus
Is an anathema to fall
It disturbs the equilibrium
Of the animals and we
Should be much more sensitive
And stop such cruelty

There is a sharp obnoxiousness
About us and rotteness
Its hurtful but do we see
The kangaroos at present
They are being shot
Just for being wild
And It seems to me

60,000 years they have romped
And managed
Through massive droughts and
Difficulties but they
Are still here fighting back
Against the ranchers and the grey suits
And the greed and bloody arrogant
Like the flesh trade of the day

K-roo and the lot of them
All after making money excuses they have lots
In many ways their brains are in their rectums
In many ways they are a bunch of twats
They cannot see with the eyes of the aboriginie
Who sees value as the wild breed that they are
Who treats them with respect who actually does detect
The totally angelic wild bush star

So bringing them to circus and to TV shows
Shipping them abroad to such abuse
Its cringeworthy and flawed with bloody ignorance
Its harmful to us all and very loose
Morally its just asking for trouble
Lessening their value over time
The role they play in the maintenance
Of our countryside
For without them you can see a gradual slide

We desecrate the aboriginie wild lands
Disregard the sacredness as we
Mine for coal or minerals
We stride across their land
We havent got a hope in hell
To see
The foolishness and ugliness
We are doing
Violating totemic history
Desecrating sacred land
And sacred animals
Understand
Our commercialism
The end, its going to be

Stand back and watch the wildness
The sky the outback all
The aboriginie the kangaroos
The kookaburra’s call
The koala needs to climb the trees
So knocking them all down
Is guaranteeing our arrogance
And in all of it we drown

Realise for goodness sake
Respect the wild and be
Open to the animals
Or otherwise we will see
Deserts creeping city ways
Towards our concrete towers
And disrespecting our native laws
We shall in time lose all our powers

“Respect all wild animals and love them
For they love us and by sharing their knowledge
Of 60,000 years we all stand a chance to live
Beyond and above what otherwise we will live.”
