EMU

The Emu is a star out in the bush
Under the sun
With all its originality
A Soft feathered flightless
Racer and boy can this bird run
A trendsetter in many ways
Majestic through and through
An eminence of character
Its integrity on view

It has a state of order
And regularity
Only found in Australia
A bird that wanders free
I question the mentality
Of the government who felt
The need to machine gun
Emu’s
That was a card they dealt

With very little commonsense
An icon that should be
Respected for its influence
And it first class quality
Yet once again wheat farming
Was blamed
And it Twas said that they ate
The grains and therefore had to die
Their fate again was set

Man each generation
Apparently doesnt learn
The gifted wondrous wild life
Are something to discern
Something to be cared for not murdered
In cold blood
Shot to death by shooters
In what became a flood

Of lead again no real thought
Of harmony abroad
Environmental pollutants
Were never a reward
For innocence and wildness
That might have ambled by
That might have feasted on their corpses
And would sadly later die

They are parental good guys
The family is their thing
The male does incubate the chick
For eight weeks he will bring
His expertise and caring
Bring it into play
A kindly thoughtful creature
Who the aborigines pay

Respects to in their mythology
Much like the kangaroo
They possess a heavenly aura
A stablity thats true
A survivability
And they just know what to do
Six foot two in height some of them
And charismatic too

And they contribute to the environment
Its what the gifted do
They are nomads and none happier
Than wandering around
They drink water infrequently
But copiuously when found
Plants and insects chiefly
The irder of their day
Reflective and contemplative
And inquisituve they say

I wish that we would realise
And respect the aboriginie
Understand their profound thought
And contemplate their
Philosophy
Tued in with the Mother
The water and the fire
The air and all the animals
That happen to be there

It is a mental process
A Cerebration where
Instinctive knowledge
Does abound
And is accumulated there
