Beluga’s

Critically endangered
Which is why we should ask why
Man so very unkind chooses
Really to apply
His arrogant behaviour
To adding captivity
To what is a wild cetacean
Who should be forever free

Immortally enduring
Subsisting naturally
In cold arctic oceans
Where it was meant to be
An alien world of make believe
Alabaster souls
Magickal in so many ways
Who breathe by their blowholes

Melon headed chalky white
Endowed with language they
Really twitter all the time
Free spirits who do play
They have a true connectedness
A kinship to admire
And babies stay with their mothers
At least For an entire
Year and even longer
And so captivity
Is man being ultra ignorant
For their matriarchy

Is everything to Beluga’s
Mutual dependence rules
Its therefore confrontational
It takes the human fools
Little time and intellect
To come up with their plight
And challenge what is harmony
For them and therefore right

Captivity is hellish
A tank of chemical brew
Chlorine and nothing thats living
And a human crew
Feeding them with dead fish
No waves no ice no snow
No arctic climes their camouflage
Wanting as we know

Their total coloration
Should press our buttons hard
Clearly in a show tank
They would be off guard
Inferior and lowly
Disjointed and alone
Ruptured from creation
And everything they have known

The wholeness the integrity
The unity they feel
Self-sufficient and integral
In the ocean they were real
In a tank of chlorine
Where little is alive
Overwhelmed with negatives
Where it is hard to survive

It just shows how inadequate
Men can really be
How they set out to shorten lives
And create the misery
An ultramundane concrete tank
Unnassimiliated there
Infringing what is all they are
Creators of despair

Chaos bedlam disunion
Out of step and out of line
Standardized and schematized
Even when they dine
Its all to do with getting drugs
Into them each day
Humanizing these gifted souls
And forcing them to pay

The beginning is much closer to their end
Discovery
They are now on the red list
But did not have to be
Thats down to our iniative
The tip we fail to see
All the icebergs melting
Not so their ancestry

We have dragged our feet for ever
“Blackfish” made the point
Reaction to the cruelty
It should disappoint
Marine biologists everywhere
And all humans with a heart
Who feel and love humanity
And want for us to start

Thinking really out of the tank
Thinking honestly
Realizing cetaceans
Really need to be
Not in darkest vilest tanks
Of complete human sin
But out in the wild ocean
Aware of their own skin
