Fireworks

Burning
Polluting
Our personal space
With imported chemicals
Right in our face
Its nothing but scandalous
That is my view
We destroy all thats good
That is what we do

We mimic a war
With the cannons and sprays
With the crackles and colours
Come see the displays
Of metals and injurious chemicals too
Fire burning bright
But not good and true

Wild animals suffer
As do our pets
Some of those noises
Give me the sweats
Aerial patterning
Maybe but I
Would rather watch birds
Than fireworks that fly

Its unstraightforwardness
And its unfair
The garbage we send
Winging into the air
I am suspicious its all villainy
Importing these chemicals
Just spivvery

Those finding it harder
To breathe on the night
The tortuous and sinister
Ignoble light
Creating vile colours
And sinister stars
Rockets propped up
And fired out of jars

Aimed at the thatched
House over the way
Or into the duck pond
Some people play
These kinds of tricks
In the fervour of night
For me this chicanery
Can never be right

Its dark and theres smoke
Its covetous joy
Making a noise
Its when we can annoy
The old the infirm
When we do what we choose
Light our bangers and run
Tanked up on booze

For me an irreverence
I’m not impressed
Nothing to wonder at
More I feel stressed
This is not magic
Its chemicalization
Its ingloriousness
A loss of reputation
