A turkey portrait

A living artists palette
Indigo azure
Your coat of many colours
Sapphire with a pure
Gentian cardinal damask
Ashen dapple grey
The colours only GAIA ever
Could infact display

Cinnabar and madder
A blush a flush a glow
Stripes of purest aquamarine
Really in the flow
Your beauty is beyond compare
How is it we dare say
That Christmas is a coming
And we will eat you right away

The dancing light
The play on colours
A prism in your eyes
Such a glorious being
Truthfully defies
Logic defies true art forms
For looking at you we
Can understand the orbs of magic
That sometimes follow thee

Out there in the farmyard
We note the clarity
A turkey such an amazing soul
Eye catching wandering free
Undisguised conspicuous
A truly wondrous sight
To be thrown into the shackles
And murdered can’t be right

A comment from a new friend on facebok

Thank you so much for sending that poem, Rex. It is wonderful descriptive and really captures the beauty and amazing personalities that turkeys have. I am glad to tell you that the turkey in the photograph is safe at a vegan sanctuary. Sadly so many will not be as fortunate.

Thankyou Eunice
